Chun Kuk Do Background
|
Chun Kuk
Do is a hybrid (mixed) martial art founded and first taught by Chuck
Norris. The phrase "Chun Kuk Do" means "Universal Way". this art
evolved from Chuck Norris' original training in Tan Soo Do, a Korean
hard style striking martial art. This development has included the
evolution and integration of Tang Soo Do with elements of Taekwondo,
Brazilian Kiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, Muay Thai,Shotokan, and many other
martial arts.
Chun Kuk Do (CKD) is an
international system with a structured governing body, the United
Fighting Arts Federation (UFAF). To promote unity and
standardization, the style holds a convention and world championship
tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada each summer. |

Code of Ethics
|
Chun Kuk Do includes a code of ethics
and rules to live by, much like other forms of martial arts. These rules
are from Chuck Norris' personal code.
-
I will develop myself to the
maximum of my potential in all ways.
-
I will forget the mistakes of the
past and press on to greater achievements.
-
I will always be in a positive
frame of mind and convey this feeling to every person that I meet.
-
I will continually work at
developing love, happiness and loyalty in my family and acknowledge
that no other success can compensate for failure in the home.
-
I will look for the good in all
people and make them feel worthwhile.
-
If I have nothing good to say
about a person, I will say nothing.
-
I will give so much time to the
improvement of myself that I will have no time to criticize others.
-
I will always be as enthusiastic
about the success of others as I am about my own.
-
I will maintain an attitude of
open-mindedness toward another person's viewpoint while still
holding fast to that which I know to be true and honest.
-
I will maintain respect for those
in authority and demonstrate this respect at all times.
-
I will always remain loyal to
God, my country, family and my friends.
-
I will remain highly
goal-oriented throughout my life because that positive attitude
helps my family, my country, and myself.

Uniform Patch Placement
To meet
requirements for participation in official UFAF events,
red and black belt uniforms
should be fitted with the following:
-
UFAF/CKD
style patch (worn on left lapel; aligned vertically, NOT
parallel to lapel)
-
Flag of
country (worn on left sleeve about one inch down from shoulder
seam)
-
Rank patch
(black
belts only, worn on
right lapel, top-aligned with UFAF/CKD style patch)
-
Certain
approved optional patches may be worn on the right sleeve
starting about one inch below the shoulder seam, and running
down the sleeve (school patch, approved UFAF event patches,
CKD world champion patch, etc.)
*Note:
While the style and rank patches (for black belts) should be
oriented vertically and top aligned (see diagram), some liberty may
be taken in the vertical placement of the patches according to
individual differences and personal preference.
Students
white through green belt
rank: Only UFAF-member CKD students may wear the UFAF/CKD style
patch on the left lapel of their uniforms. Other patches are
optional, although the flag of one's country is encouraged. Each
student receives a free UFAF/CKD style patch with his/her first-year
UFAF membership enrollment. Replacements may be purchased from
one's school owner / instructor. |

2. Wrap
both ends behind the body and pull each end firmly to the side.
3. The
end on the left crosses over the end on the right
4. Tuck
the end up and under
both
strands.
5. The
end on the right crosses over the end on the left and up through the loop.
