What is a Dojo
Experience?
The
term Dojo refers to a formal gathering
place or training hall for students of the
martial arts. It is considered to be a place of respect
and discipline and is cared for by the students that train there;
however, to Mr. Crouch, the founders and the instructors it is much
more.
The Dojo Experience is a place for family! It is a place where
individuals and families come to not only learn self-defense, but also a
place to be a part of a group of people who share a common interest. We
desire to not only teach real self-defense and discipline, but also to
celebrate with our students whether they are being promoted to a new
belt, winning in a tournament, or simply celebrating their birthday. At
the end of each testing cycle the instructors celebrate the students
success by holding a “Belt Ceremony.” This is a great opportunity for
the members to just enjoy doing karate through small demonstrations, as
well as, fellowship with each other and their family.
The Dojo Experience is very involved with the community!
In addition, to providing a “Life Changing Experience” for their
students, The Dojo loves to reach out to the community as well. This is
done through demonstrations at local elementary schools and community
events, hosting free self defense seminars for the Montgomery County
Women’s Center, to providing a Free after school “Lego
Club.”
What Karate can do for you?
“The
great thing about what we do for our students is that we draw out what
is already inside one of them,” Crouch said. “Parents, friends and
family see changes in confidence levels and focus abilities as the
student progresses. We take an interest in each student and help them
individually to make sure they are having fun and working towards
success.” Crouch continues, “Students of martial arts carry
themselves differently, you can see the difference karate makes just in
the way they look you in the eyes.”
When thinking about karate and martial
artists, the first thing that comes to a person’s mind is competing or
physically defending oneself. That is only the physical side of it.
The martial arts have much more to offer. Above and beyond
physically learning to fight, karate is about continually improving
oneself, mind and body as a whole.
Whether the student joins to get in better
shape, learn fighting skills, become more disciplined, or just plan have
fun, the result is the same. A New and Improved Person!
The
particular style of martial arts taught at The Dojo Experience is
Chun Kuk Do,
meaning Universal Way. It is truly mixed martial art developed
and founded by
Chuck
Norris.
The style evolved from the style Tang Soo Do, which Chuck Norris
originally trained in while stationed in Korea with the U.S. Air Force.
This development continued with the integration of Taekwondo, Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Shotokan, and many other styles of
martial arts. |
